Why Frank Rayner Entered the Online Buying and Selling Market

Frank Rayner entered the online buying and selling market because he felt compelled to do so. Despite having numerous items to liquidate, the limitations and inefficiencies of existing platforms left him with no viable alternatives, driving him to create a more effective solution for all users worldwide - thus www.ezead.com .

When COVID changed the world, Frank and Carrol Rayner decided to retire from demolition and rock excavation, needing to liquidate a large fleet of equipment. They quickly realized that most online marketplaces were limited, corporate-controlled, and poorly designed to favor the companies over the users who built them into billion-dollar entities.

For example, as a trial they placed $200,000 worth of high-quality excavating - demolition equipment with a company claiming to be the world’s largest equipment liquidator who persistantly engaged them to sell with them.

Preparation:

• Mr. Rayner prepared all items to "like new" condition, ensuring the equipment was ready for sale.

Transportation Costs:

• Company policy required all items to be delivered to their Chilliwack auction location.
• The process required six hours of loading and unloading a full tractor-trailer, incurring expensive trucking charges.

Negligent Promotion:

• The company poorly promoted the listings, ignoring the detailed descriptions provided by Mr. Rayner.
• Instead of using the detailed descriptions, they posted 10-word summaries.
• When Mr. Rayner suggested including more details, the company ignored his input, claiming they knew best.

Significant Financial Losses:

• An NPK demolition processor, valued at over $100,000, sold for just $4,500.
• A $50,000 Komatsu PC450LC-8 boom, with new hydraulic cylinders, boom pins, and complete demolition plumbing, which Mr. Rayner requested be sold as separate lots, sold for just $1,200 for all pieces combined.
• Three additional quality pieces were sold for scrap value.

Financial Outcome:

• After paying for additional services, trucking, company selling fees, and commissions, Mr. Rayner ended up $800 in the red.
• Despite the estimated $200,000 value of the equipment, no significant in fact no funds were received.

Company's Response:

• The company shrugged off responsibility, stating, "You should have read the contract."
• They offered to allow Mr. Rayner to list items on their website for free for one month, waiving the usual $750.00 per month subscription fee.

Issues with the Offer:

• When Mr. Rayner attempted to take up the offer, he found the listing process outdated, taking over 30 minutes per post.
• Despite his efforts, no calls or leads were generated from the few items he managed to post.
• The company continued attempting to charge him monthly after he had instructed them to remove his account, as it was a waste of time and energy.

Further Disappointments:

• Mr. Rayner moved on to other sites, but the experiences were similarly disappointing.

One site, which claims to be the "World's Largest Online Auction," proved to be a significant waste of both time and money. The platform is intentionally designed with several limitations:

• It offers no regional targeting, making it ineffective for listings in Canada (.ca)  to target local buyers.
• Buyers are unable to contact sellers to ask questions, as the site prioritizes protecting its commission structure.
• Since Adevinta took over, fees have increased drastically, almost weekly and they strongly suggest promoting the ads or auctions with fees of 12% or higher of selling price .
• The platform imposes numerous unwanted options and fees, over which sellers have no control, leading to excessive costs.
• For the categories relevant to Mr. Rayner's items, listing fees alone exceed $40 per listing plus of course seller commissions. With 100 listings, the cost becomes exorbitant.
• Page views are almost nonexistent even thouigh Mr Rayner has a perfect total feedback score of 122 reviews over 15 years  87 as a buyer and 35 as a seller in total in the past.

Buyers were unable to contact Mr. Rayner directly or inquire about important details due to a poorly designed and inefficient system. This system hindered direct communication, making it difficult for buyers to ask crucial questions or obtain necessary documents to move forward with their purchases of valuable items.

Furthermore, the site intentionally restricts all methods of direct contact, driven by a concern that their high fees might be bypassed. This approach negatively impacts both sellers and buyers, creating a frustrating and inefficient experience.

Mr. Rayner spent many hours—days, in fact weeks—managing these 100 listings, yet after six months, they yielded only two sales. The total listing fees amounted to $18,000, with listing and selling fees exceeding the sales revenue.

On the world's largest social media "Marketplace," which claims to be free, the truth is:

• The site is not free unless you want to list goods that are junk or items you intend to give away.
• To gain any exposure, you are forced to promote items with extremely expensive fees for just three days of visibility.
• The platform seeks to control the selling process to collect fees from sellers.
• Higher-end items often remain listed for months with no sales.
• The site struggles with selling outside your region, lacking proper controls for area-specific postings and offering no site-wide listings.
• Sellers frequently receive "Still For Sale?" messages through the platform’s messenger, only to waste time responding and never hear back from potential buyers.
• Frank observed exorbitant and ever-increasing fees, poor customer service, and a lack of customer support on this platform.
• Ads quickly disappeared, forcing users to pay more to keep listings visible or gain top-page placement.
• After spending $1,000 to promote 20 well-listed and detailed items, only one sale was made, and that was after drastically reducing prices to move the item.

These frustrations led Frank to seek a better solution in the online classifieds world.

Issues Encountered on a Popular but Outdated Classified Site

The platform featured a 20+ year-old design, interface, and layout:

• Limited options were available for listing and promoting items - no videos allowed.
• No Html Editor offered.
• The site was extremely regional, restricting the reach of ads.
• If you tried to post to other regions his ads were removed quickly.
• Encounters with low-ballers, scammers, and no-shows were frequent.
• Ads were removed when more than the basic information was included.
• Ads were flagged by corporate competitors offering similar items - removing ads.
• Overall, the site was a total waste of time, leading Frank to move on.

On what is promoted as "Canada's Largest Classifieds Site," the reality is:

• Mr. Rayner's  200 listings cost him over $8,000 per month.
• This amount excludes the cost of promoted or featured listings—these are just the basic listing fees at $25.95 each, plus taxes, along with the "feared but required bump-ups" at $10.95 each time, plus taxes.
• Since Adevinta took over, fees have increased drastically, almost weekly.
• Page views and sales are almost nonexistent.
• Poor Site Design and Performance Lead to Hours Wasted
• "Due to the site's intentional design, users are forced to post ads in multiple cities across Canada without any international exposure. This results in having to run multiple ads for the same item, which is a colossal waste of time and extremely expensive.
• Maintaining 200 listings becomes an infuriating chore, compounded by constant site errors like losing posted images. he ended up wasting well over an hour each day just to manage these poorly performing ads."
• It appears the platform is intentionally limiting page views by not providing sufficient categories, thereby forcing users to purchase featured listings, which they continuously promote.

"  Promote your ad, get more replies! "

The cost for a top of category ad is now $455.95 for 30 days, plus taxes.

Or bump up at $10.95 plus taxes to bring back to the top for a few hours - then it is gone again to the back of the list on pages no one bothers to view.

Mr Rayner  tried all of the sites above without any true success on any of them and ended up spending 3 years of countless frustrating hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars doing what should of been a simple task had Ezead existed - this caused Frank to finally create Ezead to resolve this issue.

He also tried several other sites specific to his heavy equipment items and found exactly the same problems - none of them worked.
